BEE HAVEN STAFF BIO'S

  Owner

  • Louise Warner
Owner, President Bee Haven Consulting Ltd.

I have been a Lynn Valley resident for over 8 years and a North Shore resident for 16. I am the mother of three beautiful girls; Charlotte age 61/2, Gabriella 4 and Elizabeth 18 months. We also have two great cats, Murphy and Seamus.

My education is both psychology and sociology based and my career started back in 1987 working with physically and mentally challenged children and youth. I then moved into working with abused children and youth who had been apprehended for their own safety by the children welfare branch of the County Council.

In 1991 following a long held dream to come to Canada I accepted a one year contract as a nanny for a family in the Dunbar area. The family and I grew very close and I decided to stay an extra year until the youngest started school. It was during this year I met my husband and decided to become a landed immigrant.

For the last 17 years my career has been again focused on youth particularly street youth in the Downtown Eastside, working first in several capacities including street youth hostel manager for a downtown agency.

After the birth of my first child I took over a year and a half off and then became the Community Liaison Worker for the North Shore Housing Centre advocating and working on behalf of the North Shore's homeless and the agencies that service them.

Buying Bee Haven has been the fulfillment of a long held dream to not only own my own business but also to be a part of shaping the next generations of leaders and providers. I am a strong believer in "it takes a village to raise a child" and look forward to partnering with all our families to provide the best possible care their child can get.

  • Kim Dunn
    Operations Manager, Mt. Olivet

I have many years of experience in the ECE field after earning my Early Childhood Education Diploma, specializing in infant/toddler and special needs. Over the years I have gained valuable experience and was given the opportunity to work with a variety of children of many ages in many different settings. This included Walt Disney World in Florida, several childcare centres in both Ontario and BC, resorts in Muskoka, Ontario, Girl Guide leader and volunteering through Big Sisters.

After completing the Business Program at Disney University I realized I really enjoyed the business side of how an operation works. I left the field for a few years to gain more experience in the business world. I worked in a sales and marketing position for a while but then ended up back in the world of ECE!

As a centre's Manager' I am able to have the best of both worlds - I still get to be with the kids and work on the business side as well.

I love getting to know all the new families coming into the centre.
